Social welfare exposure trip to Manipur

Kohima, February 6 : In continuation with capacity building programme, the department of social welfare organised an exposure trip to the neighboring state of Manipur.

A team of officers led by DTH Anthony, State Programme officer visited Manipur on February 4 and 5. The objective of the programme was to see the first hand ICDS functioning in other states. The team was warmly welcomed by department of social welfare, Government of Manipur.

The visiting team was very much impressed on the sincerity and efficiency of the Manipur government and the department of social welfare in carrying out the ICDS programme. The Government of Manipur has already executed the Supreme Court order on hot cooked direction. The entire SNP programme is handed over to the community through SHGs of the respective localities and they are found doing very well.

“We also found that many adolescent girls are being imparted vocational training in the project level under Kishori Shakti Yojna Scheme. The government of Manipur had provided all the amenities for the training,” a release received here said. The team is taking this matter very seriously to the state government of Nagaland to comply with the Supreme Court Order for the benefit of the targeted beneficiaries.

The team thanked the department of social welfare of Manipur especially Niramla, Programme officer of Senapati, Ela, CDPO Mao- Maram, CDPO Saitu Gamphazoi, Minthinla, special officer, CDPO (East- I) CDPO Imphal (East- II) and all the officers of the social welfare department of Manipur for their kind cooperation and for their homely hospitality extended to the visiting team.
