Manipur Minister inspects NREGS works

Imphal, February 18 : Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allaudin Khan visited different areas of Bishnupur district and personally inspected the works taken up under NREGS today.

The Minister has also decided to recommend Bishnupur DC Aleng A Shimray for an excellency award for implementing programmes under strict financial discipline.

RD & PR Minister Md Allaudin Khan was accompanied by Kumbi A/C MLA N Mangi, DC Aleng A Shimray and many relevant officials during his inspection tour today.

The team inspected the minor irrigation canal being made alongsides the road from Toubul to Yangoilok under Toubul Gram Panchayat, road embankment work and drain being constructed Charolokchao to Loktak under Thinungei GP and also the minor irrigation canal being made from Khujairok to Haraorou.

Visibly satisfied with the manner of working and proper utilisation of sanctioned funds, Md Allaudin Khan said that he would recommend an excellency award for the Bishnupur DC to the State Government.

The team also inspected the NREGS works being executed in Phubala GP, Moirang Khunou GP and Ngangkhalawai GP.

Later speaking to reporters, Md Allaudin Khan said that he would make inspection visits to hill districts after covering the valley districts.

While observing that NREGS works being executed in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts are satisfactory, the Minister disclosed that several discrepancies were detected in Imphal West district.

While some Panchayats have no work place, local bodies of some other Panchayats are unable to find work places to implement the NREGS, Allaudin said.

He further stated that no money will be released for those Gram Panchayats where machines are put into service in NREGS works.
