`Jiribam needs to be a district to stay astride with development`

IMPHAL, Feb 6 : A two-day long interpersonal communication campaign of the people and government was organised by DIPR under a flagship programme of the government on January 4 and 5 at Jiribam Town Hall.

Y Iboyaima, additional deputy commissioner of the Jiribam sub-division as the chief guest of the inaugural function said that as Jiribam was kept under Imphal east district administrative inconvenience was there.

He further said that with development in infrastructure Jiribam needs to be a full fledged district so that the inconvenience of the public could be solved.

In the past Jiribam was underdeveloped but now it has made a lot of progress and development is taking place, he added.

M Ratan, chairperson of the Jiribam Municipal Council said that there was lot of communication gap with Imphal before but now the conditions had improved a lot.

He said he was happy that such a campaign was organised in Jiribam which gave awareness to the people of Jiribam.

In the two-day long campaign experts spoke regarding PMGSY, SSA, Mid Day Meal, NREGS, Total Sanitation Programme (Rural Water Supply), RTI, Urban Area Development and JNNRM and National Rural Health Mission.
