Imphal, March 07 : The Zeliangrong Youth (ZYF) has resolved that the status quo should be maintained in connection with any re-settlement activities of Naga and Kuki villages as of today.
A decision to this effect was adopted after a minute discussion on the matter during the ZYF's annual assembly held at Luanglei Apinjang, Gangluan Part-IV, Nungba sub-division on February 24, informed a press release.
The annual assembly focused on the issue relating to the proposed re-settlement of deserted Kuki community at Luanglei Apinjang village which is presently inhabited by the Zeliangrong community.
Saying that the ZYF shall always uphold its objective to protect life, land and properties of the Zeliangrong community, the meeting decided not to give or compromise on any Zeliangrong area for the proposed re-settlement of Kuki community.
The ZYF further resolved to take up special initiative to convene inter-tribes meeting of apex tribal bodies specially of Zeliangrong tribe and Kuki tribe including concerned elected MLAs of both the communities in the matter of re-settlement at Luanglei Apinjang in the earliest time.
The ZYF also condemned the firing incident of February 18 in between Duithanjang and Thanagong village of Khoupum valley between UG groups.
The annual assembly was graced by ZU vice-president G Namdon, former vice-president of ZU Adi Remmei and ZYF president Poujeng Kamei as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively, added the release.
