Imphal, March 7 : Cosmopolitan Youth Club defeated SAI RC 4-0 in the league round of the 11th Kanti Mukherjee Invitation Hockey Tournament 2008-09 played at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today.
Cosmopolitan Youth Club had no difficulty in taming SAI RC. Cosmopolitan Youth Club found its opening goal in the 32nd minute of play through A.K. Raju Singh to take the lead in the first half.
Resuming in the second half, the Cosmopolitan men got their second goal in the 49th minute as Raju Singh scored again.
The Cosmopolitan team scored its third goal from L. Herojit Singh and P. Jupiter Singh scored his team’s fourth goal to wrap up three points from the comfortable win.
Navarang win
Navarang Club, Guwahati, lifted the 16th Uma Charan Bania day/night Twenty20 cricket tournament trophy, defeating Latasil Maroon, Guwahati, by three runs at Latasil ground last evening, reports a staff reporter from Guwahati.
Swarupam Purkayastha was named Man of the Match as well as Man of the Tournament. Teammate Manoj Malo was named Best Batsman and Bikash Chetry of Latasil Maroon the Best Bowler.
