Imphal, March 18 : The All Manipur United Clubs Organisation today extended financial assistance to the victims of the fire in Manipur’s Ukhrul district.
The organisation, an apex body of various citizen organisations, handed over a sum of Rs 2 lakh to the victims through Tangkhul Naga Long, the apex body of the Tangkhul community, during a function in Ukhrul town.
A fire, which broke out on March 9, razed more than 100 shops and houses at Wino Bazar of Ukhrul town, destroyed property worth crores of rupees and left nearly 1,000 people homeless.
The team led by R. Yangsosong Koireng, president of the organisation, today visited Ukhrul and assessed the damage caused by the fire.
Handing over the sum, Koireng assured the Tangkhul body that it would continue to help victims of natural calamities.
