Manipur Finance Commission team in Kohima

Imphal, Jan 20 : A team of the 13th Finance Commission led by its Chairman Vijay Kelkar which will be arriving here on January 21 on a three day visit , has arrived at Kohima today.

The team will fly in by a helicopter and land at Kangla in the morning of January 21 .

The team which would be visiting the State primarily to assess the requirements under non-plan sector for the fiscal 2009-10 also include the Chairman's wife Lata Kelkar, members BK Chaturvady, Prof Atul Sharma, Dr Sanjiv Mishra, Secretary Sunil Bose, Joint Secretary BS Bhulan, Economic Advisor Dr Rasham Roy, Anjali Modi, Joint Director Sanjiv Joshi, Chairman's private secretary S Ravi, Economic Advisors KM Krishnan, Ritesh Kumar and his private secretary.

During their stay at Imphal, the team would be inspecting water supply schemes taken up at Imphal, Primary Health Centres, district hospitals, Anganwadi centres and also Kangla.

The team will interact with leaders of different political parties, representatives of NGOs and trade unions from January 22 morning.

The team will also have a meeting with the Chief Minister in the afternoon of the same day.

It is reported that the State Government will urge the Finance Commission for additional amount for education, roads and bridges, payment of loan, 6th Pay Commission and other special issues during the meeting.

High level officials of the State Government will also be attending the meeting between the Chief Minister and the 13th Finance Commission team.

The team will leave Imphal in the morning of January 23 .

Meanwhile, the State Government has declared the visiting 13th Finance Commission team as State guests.
