Decamped surrendered PULF nabbed again

Imphal, Jan 17 : A surrendered PULF activist who government declared as deserter after he decamp the surrenders' rehabilitation centre at Lamphel and joined the group against has been nabbed by the Assam Rifles and handed over to the police, an official source said.

The nabbed activist was named as Md Jamakhan alias Ithemba alias Laskhar Jack (24) son of Md Abdul Salam of Sikhong village in Thoubal district, and government declared him as deserter after the camp commander of the rehabilitation centre P Manikanta informed the home department that he had deserted the centre on December 2 last year.

State home department on confirming decamped of PULF activist issued an order on January 8 expelled him.

He will be treated as deserted from the centre from December 2, the day he vanished from the centre, the order stated.

Mention may be made that Jack surrendered to the state authority on July 26 last year with a 9mm pistol.

Since then he has been lodged at the Lamphel rehabilitation centre.

He was apprehended by the troops of 34 Assam Rifles at around 2 pm on January 13 from Nongpok Sekmai area and handed over to the Yairipok police station.

Yairipok police registered a case against him and in the judicial custody after he was remanded there by a local court, the source said.
