Th Chaoba pledges status quo of Bishnupur

Imphal, April 9 : Inner candidate of the Manipur Democratic Alliance formed by four political parties Th Chaoba has assured that if elected MPP would annul the proposal made by CPI candidate Dr Nara and signed by Congress candidate Dr Meinya for removing the seven Assembly segments of the Thoubal district from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency to be replaced with Assembly segments from Bishnupur district at the time of delimitation.

Addressing a public meeting held in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha election at Oinam Bazar in Bishnupur district today, Chaoba informed the gathering that an application to this effect proposed by Dr Nara and signed by Dr Meinya had been submitted to the Delimitation Commission.

After the matter came to light, a case had been filed in the Supreme Court and it is still pending, Chaoba said, adding that MPP would never allow the evil designs of the Congress and the CPI to make the people of the Bishnupur district the scapegoat.

''If such a thing ever occur after being voted with the loving support of the people, then I would resign from being an MP at once', Chaoba pledged.

Describing the upcoming Lok Sabha election as a matter of live and death for the MPP, Chaoba said he is contesting in the election not for any desire to become an MP by at the bidding of the party to save Bishnupur district and Manipur.

Attacking on his rival CPI candidate, Chaoba reiterated that there is no reason why the public should vote for Dr Nara whose name is missing from the electoral rolls of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency apart from not being to cast his own vote.

Participating in the meeting MLA O Joy of MPP exhorted the people to exercise their franchise judiciously and elect the right representative for the lone Inner seat as it is going to be a decisive election on the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Giving the vote in favour of CPI would amount to sacrificing the Inner seat, Joy said, adding that the nearest rival of MPP in this election is no other parties but Congress.

However, he hastened to add, it would be suicidal to vote for Congress before knowing its definite stand on the issue of territorial integrity of Manipur.

Ridiculing the Congress led SPF Government for its alleged failure on law and order count, Joy said that law and order has been divorced.

While the law with the Government, the order is in the hills and the middle of Loktak.
