IMPHAL, Jan 14 : The All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers` Welfare Association has appreciated the government for taking a decision to fulfill the demands of the association to enhance the educational conditions in the state.
It also lauded the government`s move to upgrade the higher secondary schools of the state and convert those schools to English medium.
However, the association has strongly condemned the non-payment of salaries for the month of October, November and December. The finance department had already circulated an order for release of the salaries before Christmas but it was still pending, it said.
It also said that while salaries of the teachers of hilly regions are released uninterruptedly every month those for the valley were not done regularly.
The All Manipur Primary Teachers` Association which has been pressurizing and demanding holding of DPC for the selection of primary teachers since many days has shown gratitude to the government for keeping the sector of education as an agenda in the Cabinet announcements yesterday.
A felicitation function of the minister of education, L Jayentakumar is also scheduled to be held in relation with the matter on January 18 at 10 am in the morning along with the MLAs of the government of Manipur at Budhachandra college.
The association has also informed the concerned candidates to be present in the felicitation function of the education minister, a release said.
